Editor offers Occupy Richmond protesters his front lawn

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A Richmond newspaper editor who lives next door to the city's mayor is inviting Occupy Richmond protesters to camp out in his front yard.

Richmond Free Press editor Raymond Boone wrote in an editorial Thursday that if the protesters couldn't occupy Mayor Dwight Jones' front lawn they were welcome to use his. As rumors spread that the group would move to the mayor's home last week, Boone says a police officer blocked the common driveway he and Jones share.

WWBT-TV reports that Boone offered to provide demonstrators food and water.

Two masked protesters were arrested and released Wednesday as police removed the group from Monroe Park. Nine others were arrested last week after police moved in on a camp at Kanawha Plaza that had been used for two weeks.
