The Richmond chapter of the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities announced awards to be presented Thursday evening to six people at the 49th Annual Humanitarian Awards Dinner at the Richmond Marriott downtown.
The award recipients are Donald T. Cowles, a community volunteer and former executive for Reynolds Metals; Miriam R. Davidow, director of strategic services with the Virginia Mentoring Partnership; Marjorie N. Grier, director of corporate philanthropy and vice president of The Dominion Foundation; Monroe E. Harris Jr., an oral and maxillofacial surgeon; and T.K. Somanath, president and CEO of the Better Housing Coalition.
Willie Jones Dell, a community volunteer and former member of the Richmond City Council, was to receive the Jeffrey B. Spence Award for Interfaith Understanding.
E. Bruce Heilman, chancellor of the University of Richmond, was to serve as the dinner chair. He received the Humanitarian Award in 1999.
The Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities conducts programs that promote understanding and respect on issues of diversity for all ages across Virginia.
