A man was shot while fleeing from a robber in Richmond's East End late Thursday night.
Richmond police Capt. Paul Kiniry said the 18-year-old victim was taken to VCU Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound to the left foot that was not life-threatening.
The victim told police the incident occurred at 11:55 p.m. as he and his 15-year-old girlfriend were walking in the 1600 block of North 23rd Street.
The victim told police a dark-colored Cadillac sport utility vehicle drove past them several times before an unknown male got out and announced that it was a robbery. The victim told police he and his girlfriend began running away, and they heard several gunshots before he realized he had been struck in the foot.
Police this morning said the suspect was described as a black male with dark complexion, between 5 feet, 6 inches and 5 feet, 9 inches tall, 18-20 years old, wearing dark blue pants and a tan jacket with black designs and brandishing a small automatic handgun.
The Cadillac was described as a dark-colored or black older model Escalade.
