The city's Court Square area is bracing for an onslaught of media attracted to the murder trial of George Huguely.
City and court officials have plans to mitigate the effect of national interest in the case, but the presence of roughly 175 media workers ranging from reporters to camera operators is expected to disrupt downtown Charlottesville.
At least 35 media outlets, including national TV and print media, are expected to cover the trial, said Charlottesville spokesman Ric Barrick, who's running the credentialing process for the city.
There will be 15 satellite trucks in town for the entire trial, and a total of 19 might be expected, Barrick said.
