»  Comments | Post a Comment

A Culpeper police officer is on administrative leave following the fatal shooting of a suspect today.

The Star-Exponent reports that the shooting occurred this morning after the officer responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle.

Town of Culpeper spokesman Wally Bunker says it's not clear what happened. He says State Police are investigating.

A witness, Kris Buchele, tells the newspaper that the officer was talking to someone in the vehicle when it began to pull away. She says the officer ordered the driver to stop and warned that he would shoot, and then fired several shots.
