Police are investigating the death of a 2-month-old boy who was found at home in Highland Springs early today.

Henrico County police Lt. Eric D. Owens said authorities are treating the death as suspicious, but he did not elaborate.

Owens said officers called to a home in the 200 block of Airport Place shortly after 12:30 a.m. found the boy unresponsive. The child was taken to VCU Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead just before 1 a.m., Owens said.

Police were continuing their investigation at the Oakmeade Apartments late this morning. Some family members were present but security officers asked reporters to leave.
