Virginia Housing report highlights 2011 data
The Virginia Association of Realtors released its 2011 Virginia Housing report Tuesday, showing market data, trends and comparisons.
Among highlights: The number of home sales last year in Virginia surpassed sales in 2010 despite the lack of a stimulus.
Also, the median sale price, with half the houses selling for more and half for less, began the year at $205,000, rose to $244,800 in June and closed the year at $225,000. Year over year, prices fell 3.3 percent.
"The report provides great information to prepare any buyer or seller," association spokeswoman Stacey Ricks said.
The report is available on the association's website at www.varealtor.com.
CarMax again cited by Training magazine
Automotive retailer CarMax Inc. has been named for the fifth straight year to Training magazine's Training Top 125. CarMax moved up four spots to No. 28 this year.
Training magazine, the leading business publication for learning-and-development professionals, annually selects 125 organizations that excel at associate development. These companies are chosen based on criteria such as best training practices, evaluation methods and training initiatives.
During the past year, the Goochland County-based company has launched and expanded major training and assessment initiatives. On average, each CarMax associate completes more than 70 hours of training per year.
