»  Comments | Post a Comment

Two people were injured and an apartment building heavily damaged by a fire in South Richmond this morning.

Richmond Fire crews responded to a call in the 3000 block of Stony Lake Dr. at about 6:30 and brought the blaze under control in about an hour.

Several units in the 14-apartment complex appeared destroyed and others sustained heavy smoke damage, a fire spokesman said. Richmond Fire Lt. Robbie Hagaman said six to eight units were destroyed in the blaze and one woman was injured when she jumped from the second floor.

No firefighters were injured. The Red Cross has been called in to assist those evacuated from the building.
