Brink's Co. buys software company for about $17M

The Brink's Co. has bought Kheops SAS, a provider of logistics software and related services, for about $17 million, the company said.

The acquisition gives Brink's proprietary control of software used primarily in its cash-in-transit and money processing operations in France.

Henrico County-based Brink's intends to continue developing the software for internal use in France and other countries in which it operates.

Brink's France, which had revenue of $533 million in 2010, was Kheops' primary customer before the acquisition.

The transaction is expected to be earnings-neutral in 2012 and accretive to earnings in 2013, the company said.

IT contractor to move from Md. to Fairfax

Acentia, an information technology contractor based in Silver Spring, Md., will invest $3.1 million to move its headquarters to Fairfax County.

The project will create 60 jobs, said Gov. Bob McDonnell.

Acentia is a provider of technology and management solutions to the federal government and commercial markets.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority to secure the project for Virginia.

Newman to oversee non-newspaper websites

Christie Newman has been named digital operations chief for Richmond Media Group's non-newspaper sites.

Newman had previously been site director for Richmond.com, and she will continue to have responsibility for that site.

She now adds oversight of Work It, Richmond, a daily email newsletter and website geared toward the region's small-business community.

Newman joined Media General Inc., the parent company of the Richmond Times-Dispatch and Richmond Media Group, in October 2008 when Richmond.com was acquired. She was named site manager of Richmond.com in November 2010.
