PRINCE GEORGE -- A 75-year-old man was killed Sunday evening in a single-vehicle crash in Prince George County.

Prince George police responded about 5:09 p.m. to a wreck near the intersection of South Crater and Birdsong roads.

Police identified the victim as James Basis of the 1300 block of Butler Branch Road in Petersburg.

Police said Basis was driving a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee south on South Crater Road when he lost control, ran off the right side of the road and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to slide into a tree.
