North Richmond eatery robbed; 2nd time in days
A North Richmond restaurant was robbed Sunday night at gunpoint, the second such crime at the establishment in six days.
Richmond police Capt. Paul Kiniry said authorities were investigating to see if there were any links between the two robberies at the New Chinatown Express restaurant in the 100 block of West Brookland Park Boulevard.
Sunday's robbery occurred at 8:45 p.m., when a lone black male wearing all black clothing, including a black hat and mask, came into the store, displayed a handgun and took an undetermined amount of cash. He was last seen running east on Brookland Park Boulevard.
The earlier robbery occurred Monday at 10:05 p.m., when a suspect entered through a rear door, brandished a black handgun, robbed the business of cash and ran out a rear door toward North Avenue.

Fire briefly evacuates assisted-living center
A fire was reported before daybreak Monday at an assisted-living center in downtown Richmond and led to the brief evacuation of the facility.
Firefighters were dispatched at 5:30 a.m. to Tiffanie's Manor for Young Adults, and the first units on scene reported dark smoke coming from the roof of the apartment building at 115 N. Jefferson St.
Officials at the home told authorities that everyone had made it out of the building safely.
Authorities said the fire appeared to have started in the boiler room.
Man beaten in robbery at Richmond park
A 62-year-old man was beaten and injured in a robbery while leaving a Richmond park.
Richmond police Capt. Paul Kiniry said the victim was treated by a Richmond Ambulance Authority crew for facial lacerations after the attack, which occurred at 5 p.m. Sunday as he was leaving Powhatan Hill Park in the city's Fulton area.
A detailed description of the suspects was not available.

Dollar General store robbed in Hopewell
There were no injuries in the armed robbery of a Dollar General store Monday.
Hopewell police said the robbery occurred at 8:20 a.m. at the store in the 3500 block of Oaklawn Boulevard, where a man with a handgun got an undisclosed amount of cash before running away.
The suspect was described as a black male, between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 160 to 180 pounds with a medium build and wearing a light-colored covering over his face, a light-green hooded jacket over a black T-shirt, gray sweatpants and dark sneakers.
