North Richmond eatery robbed; 2nd time in days

A North Richmond restaurant was robbed Sunday night at gunpoint, the second such crime at the establishment in six days.

Richmond police Capt. Paul Kiniry said authorities were investigating to see if there were any links between the two robberies at the New Chinatown Express restaurant in the 100 block of West Brookland Park Boulevard.

Sunday's robbery occurred at 8:45 p.m., when a lone black male wearing all black clothing, including a black hat and mask, came into the store, displayed a handgun and took an undetermined amount of cash. He was last seen running east on Brookland Park Boulevard.

The earlier robbery occurred Monday at 10:05 p.m., when a suspect entered through a rear door, brandished a black handgun, robbed the business of cash and ran out a rear door toward North Avenue.

There were no injuries in either robbery. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers anonymously at (804) 780-1000.

Authorities said the fire appeared to have started in the boiler room.
