19-year-old shot, wounded in Richmond

A 19-year-old man was shot and wounded Saturday night in Richmond's East End, police said.

The shooting occurred about 9:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of North 23rd Street.

The victim, who was not identified, was taken to VCU Medical Center, where he was being treated for injuries police said were not life-threatening.

The motive and assailant in the shooting remain under investigation. Richmond police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000, or text Crime Stoppers at 274637, by writing "iTip" followed by the tip. Both methods are anonymous.
