Richmond police are looking for a man suspected in the robberies of a McDonald's and a 7-Eleven in South Side Tuesday night and early today.
Shortly after midnight, police said, a man walked into the 7-Eleven at 2922 Jefferson Davis Highway, acted as if he had a gun and robbed the clerk. Police said that based on the description, investigators believe he is the same man who robbed the McDonald's at 821 Hull St. about 9:30 p.m.
Police initially reported the McDonald's holdup as an attempted robbery but said in a news release this afternoon that "when investigators watched the surveillance video, they discovered the man stole money."
Police said the robber fled in a small dark pickup truck carrying a ladder on a ladder rack.
The suspect was described as a white male, about 5-feet-5-inches tall with a thin build and scruffy beard. He was wearing a black-and-white checked sweatshirt and a head covering that made it difficult to determine his hair color, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Greg Russell at (804) 646-8171 or Detective Kevin Hughes at (804) 646-0675.
