More than 80 employers have signed on for Rep. Eric Cantor’s job fair on Tuesday at Deep Run High School.
Cantor, R-7th, is hosting the free event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Henrico County school at 4801 Twin Hickory Drive in Glen Allen. The 87 employers run the gamut, from local governments including Chesterfield and Henrico counties to private employers Capital One, Carepoint Medical and CarMax, Inc.
It’s the second job fair Cantor’s held in this area in as many years. Last summer’s event in Chesterfield County drew more than 3,200 job-seekers who stood under the hot sun for hours to get in. Interest was so high that an hour before it was to end, lines snaked out of the school building into the parking lot and Cantor extended the event by two more hours.
“This continues to be a very tough economy for the hard-working people of Virginia. Families, small business people, and young workers are struggling with high unemployment,” Cantor said on his Web site in an announcement of this event.
“Virginia’s 7th District is home to many talented individuals and a wide array of employers. I hope this event will help potential employers and job seekers learn about the many resources and career opportunities available in our region and help more Virginians get back to work.”
