It was unclear Monday if a lawyer for Del. Joseph D. Morrissey, D-Henrico, asked that Morrissey's law license be reinstated immediately.
On Friday, the Virginia Supreme Court set ground rules for the reinstatement of the license. The court rejected a Virginia State Bar disciplinary board recommendation in May to preserve Morrissey's disbarment.
The court said Morrissey had to pass the written portion of the state bar exam, achieve a scaled score of 85 or higher on a professional responsibility examination and show that he has had 60 hours of continuing legal education in the past five years.
A legislative assistant to Morrissey said in a statement Saturday that Morrissey was in Australia, that he already had met or exceeded the conditions and that his lawyer, Edward B. Lowry, would request his reinstatement on Monday.
Lowry, however, could not be reached Monday and, as far as the staff of the Virginia Supreme Court and the Virginia State Bar were aware, no request had been received.
