Nationwide, more than 342,000 households received at least one foreclosure-related notice in April, according to a new report.

About 75 foreclosed houses in Virginia -- including 25 in the Richmond area -- are slated to be sold to the highest bidders in an auction Sunday morning.

The houses are located from Norfolk to Wise County and from Spotsylvania County to Mecklenburg County.

An estimated 400 to 500 people are expected to attend the auction at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Registration is required to bid, and pre-registration is recommended. Go online to http://www.auction.com for online registration.

Successful bidders will be required to pay $2,500 in cash or by cashier's check, made payable to the bidder, for one property, plus a cashier's check, personal check or cash for the the balance of a 5 percent deposit on each property, and $5,000 for each additional property; plus a cashier's check, personal check or cash to pay balance of a 15 percent deposit on each additional property.
