Table Talk: Shula’s Steak House coming to town
Published: July 9, 2009
For several years, fans of sports, burgers and one of the greatest pro football coaches of all time could enjoy the presence of all three at Shula's 2, inside the Sheraton at 6624 W. Broad St.
Now comes word that the high-end version of Don Shula's eateries, Shula's Steak House, will open this fall at the still-under-construction Hilton Short Pump Conference Center, adjacent to Short Pump Town Center.
While our Shula's 2 -- one of only four nationwide -- incorporates casual dining items (wings, burgers, a variety of thick sandwiches) in a menu that also features steaks and seafood, Shula's Steak House is more of a wood-paneled, prime rib-porterhouse-lobster type of restaurant.
Until the Short Pump spot opens, the closest Shula's Steak House is in Tyson's Corner in Northern Virginia. And Shula's 2 will remain open here.

Today from 5 to 8 p.m., Qdoba locations at Chesterfield Towne Center, Willow Lawn and White Oak Village will donate $1.50 of every entrée and drink purchased to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Virginia.
The restaurants also will have an in-store prize wheel with $1 donations being accepted for the charity.

What would you do for a free Chick-fil-A meal? Dress as a cow? Dress partially as a cow?
If yes is the answer to either, it's time to get the spotted suit from the costume shop and head to an area Chick-fil-A tomorrow for Cow Appreciation Day.
Customers willing to go full cow will receive a free meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner, including an entrée, side item and beverage), while those who only cow-accessorize can get a free entrée.
Speaking of free, Saturday is 7-Eleven's 82nd birthday.
To celebrate, the chain is giving customers a free 7.11-ounce Slurpee in a special birthday cup. The drinks will be distributed throughout the day while supplies last.

Last weekend's bikini contest at The Beach House Bar & Grille raised more than $4,000 for the family of Jared Busch.
Busch, the restaurant's bar manager, died two weeks ago.
Plans are in the works for a second benefit, a golf tournament, this fall.
