Fast fact: Zweigelt was a cross developed in the early 1920s in Austria. It is found throughout Austria but has no major presence anywhere else. Blaufrankisch, one of the grapes used in creating Zweigelt, is often compared to Gamay, the dominant grape from Beaujolais. Blaufrankisch is known as Lemberger in the U.S.
