Daylily Displays: Several area display gardens are open to view during the daylily season:

Summertime Plantation Progressive Tour: Guided tour of Piney Grove Plantation's collection of antiques and historic buildings, including Piney Grove, Ashland and Ladysmith plantations, and exterior visits to Duck Church and Dower Quarter, 3-5 p.m. today at the complex, Charles City County. $20; reservation required. Build-a-Barrel Workshop: Learn about water conservation and construct a rain barrel, 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Henrico County Human Services Building, 8600 Dixon Powers Drive. $45; registration required. (804) 501-7275. Program repeats Sept. 25.

Lewis Ginter Programs: Increase your gardening know-how with programs at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, 1800 Lakeside Ave.

Fall Vegetable Gardening: Chesterfield County, Virginia Cooperative Extension, conducts a class, "Plant Now for a Fall Vegetable Harvest," 5-7 p.m. July 13 at Meadowdale Library, 4301 Meadowdale Boulevard, and 4-6 p.m. July 20 at Clover Hill Library, 6701 Deer Run Drive, Midlothian.
