Democrat elected to N.Va. House of Delegates seat
ALEXANDRIA -- Voters have narrowly elected Democrat Charniele L. Herring to fill the seat of former Del. Brian J. Moran.
With all precincts reporting, the Virginia State Board of Elections said Herring received 50.18 percent of the vote today in the heavily Democratic 46th House District. Republican congressional aide Joe Murray received 49.55 percent of the vote.
Moran stepped down from his seat and leadership post as head of the Democratic Caucus last month to run for governor full time. In a statement, he called Herring a great advocate and strong representative.
Fewer than 6 percent of active voters participated in the election.

‘Heavily Democratic…‘ and their candidate wins by less than 1%? Low turnout? My advice is for Democrats to keep patting themselves on the back about how wonderful they are. Who knows? That’s what the Republicans did and look what it got them.
