Store owner and suspect both shot on Jeff Davis
Richmond police are investigating the shooting of a store owner and a suspect during an attempted robbery Saturday at a store that was the scene of another shooting just last month.
Police were summoned at 1:05 p.m. to the Golden Food Market at 2701 Jefferson Davis Highway in South Richmond.
The owner had been shot, and a customer inside the store shot the would-be robber, police said. Although other customers were inside the market, none was injured.
The store owner's injuries were described as not life-threatening. The gunman's injuries, however, were said to be life-threatening.
On June 12, another man was shot six times during a robbery at Golden Food.
Three days earlier, a co-owner of the Come and Go Food Market, which is three blocks north of Golden Food on Jeff Davis, was shot and killed in a robbery.

Let’s hope this takes a big bite out of crime.
Panative - If it was a ‘good’ shoot, which thus far, as reported, it appears to be - the customer will not face criminal charges. It is possible however, that he may face a civil suite brought forth by the turds family.
It’s crimes like these why the system doesn’t work. If the robber dies, the customer gets charged with some type of murder & the low-life family of the crack head robber will utilize the system to their ability. Screw the system! The guy that shot the crook should be honored by the City & the police force.
“The store owner’s injuries were described as not life-threatening. The gunman’s injuries, however, were said to be life-threatening.“
This news just like it should be.
HA HA ya thug! Got what you deserve.
The final score:
Armed citizen - 1
Crackhead thief - 0
Take heed evil-doers, we’re taking our neighborhoods back.
it is getting to the point where i think we need to rename this part of the corridor to the ‘ok corral blvd’...have guns, can shop.
All these guns…yikes.
Nice shot!
“M&P .45” I’m sure your comment was intended as sarcasm, but I’m also sure that you know, just as well as any “gun-toting” law abiding citizens, that it is legally justified to use “deadly force” to protect your life and the life of another human being. The circumstances in this particular incident will determine whether the actions of the customer were justified.
Questions are…..Did the robbery suspect produce his weapon in an attempt to commit a felonious act prior to his being shot by the customer or was the customer who shot the robbery suspect legally eligible to be in possession of a firearm?
As unpredictable as the justice system is in the city of Richmond, neither one of these factors may not even matter!
