Kappas to award five $500 academic scholarships

The Fort Lee (Virginia) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. is accepting nominations for five $500 academic scholarships.

They will be awarded to a male graduating senior in the class of 2009 at Dinwiddie, Motoaca, Prince George, Petersburg and Hopewell high schools.

Guidance counselors and teachers are asked to nominate students using all of the following requirements:

Schools with more than one candidate must submit required materials on each candidate; the Awards Committee will select one nominee from each school to receive the award.

The scholarship will be presented during the high schools' graduation. Additionally, the candidate and his parents or guardian will be invited to attend an awards function. Details will be forwarded to the awardees.

The scholarship will be forfeited if winners fail to submit confirmation of enrollment to the committee from the registrar or admission's office of their college or university no later than Sept. 15, 2009.
