A King William County man was fatally injured in a single-vehicle crash Monday night on Interstate 295 in Henrico County.

Virginia State Police trooper T.M. Howard said Marvin Delano Blake, 42, died at VCU Medical Center early yesterday, several hours after the 10:45 p.m. crash.

Howard said Blake was driving south on I-295 when the compact station wagon ran off the left side of the road into the grassy median and struck a support pillar for an overhead sign near the state Route 156 exit.

Blake was wearing a seat belt, Howard said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Virginia State Police also reported the following highway deaths:

  • Cody Lewis Stallard, 16, of Wakefield was killed Saturday when the pickup truck he was driving crashed in Southampton County. The truck was traveling west on state Route 605, one-tenth of a mile east of state Route 601, at 9:18 p.m. when it ran off the road to the right, rolled over and ejected the driver. Stallard, who police said was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.
  • Chauncey Lowell Green, 62, of Grimesland, N.C., died Monday at VCU Medical Center of injuries he suffered in a Jan. 7 wreck in Greensville County. Police said Green was driving a pickup truck south on state Route 619, a half-mile north of state Route 612, at 2:20 p.m. when the truck ran off the road to the left and went into a creek, striking the embankment. He was not wearing a seat belt, police said.
  • Their deaths brought the number of people killed on Virginia roads this year to 61, compared with 63 as of the same date last year.
