Missing Chesterfield County man died at crash site
A Chesterfield County man missing since the early morning hours Friday was located this afternoon by friends and family where his motorcycle crashed in a fatal accident.
Chesterfield authorities and State Police said that Ricky Viar, 31, was located by friends in a copse of trees off the Courthouse Road exit of eastbound Powhite Parkway. He was pronounced dead at the scene yesterday.
Viar was last seen leaving a restaurant off Hull Street Road early Friday morning on his motorcycle. Traced cell phone calls helped establish that he had been in the Powhite Parkway area, where scores of friends focused their search yesterday and Saturday.
State Police said Viar's motorcycle failed to make a gradual turn onto the exit ramp, crossed over a guardrail and traveled into a small cluster of trees.
