1 business destroyed, several damaged in Williamsburg shopping center fire

WILLIAMSBURG — A two-alarm fire at the Williamsburg Shopping Center has destroyed a restaurant and damaged three other businesses.

Williamsburg Fire Department spokesman Eric Stone says several other businesses were damaged by smoke and water.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries.

Stone says a citizen passing by the shopping center reported the fire around 1 a.m. Tuesday.

At 6 a.m., 75 firefighters from Williamsburg, James City, York, Newport News and Camp Peary were still on the scene.

A cause hasn’t been determined.
