Downed power lines halt James River water traffic in Hampton Roads

PORTSMOUTH — The Coast Guard has halted all water traffic within a half-mile of the James River Bridge while utility crews remove downed power lines from the water.

Virginia Marine Resources Commission spokesman John Bull says the river will remain closed until the lines are removed. Bull said Thursday it’s unclear when the river will open.

High winds blew the lines down Wednesday night and knocked out power to 3,500 Dominion Power customers.

Dominion Power spokesman Ken Holt says power has been restored to all customers and the downed lines have been secured.

Wonder how long before bitter Republicans blame this on Tim Kaine. He must be at fault just like the broken water pump at the HRBT. Stupid do nothing governors! Doh! There must be a giant ether leak in Richmond tonight with all these political yahoos blaming the governor for problems caused by the weather. Oh wait, in the sky, it’s a bird, it’s a plance, it’s….it’s Tim Kaine seeding the clouds for a thunderstorm hoping to blow down power lines and cause water pumps in tunnels to fail. Lock him up! Everything that breaks is a politician’s fault.
