CHANTILLY — Aerospace company Raytheon Co. has announced plans to consolidate about 1,500 jobs in Northern Virginia.

The Massachusetts-based company said today it will move into four buildings near Dulles Airport that have been vacated by AOL, which once had its corporate headquarters in Loudoun County and now has a much smaller presence.

Raytheon’s consolidation is expected to add about 100 new jobs over the next three years. But most of the jobs are being relocated from existing sites in Falls Church, Reston and Herndon.

The state is providing a $500,000 grant to Raytheon. Maryland and the District of Columbia had also been competing for the site.
