CHARLOTTESVILLE — U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan will kick off an initiative to stress the need for more great teachers during a stop at the University of Virginia.

Duncan will deliver his remarks Friday at the Rotunda, the academic heart of U.Va.‘s Charlottesville campus. He is directing his remarks at Curry School of Education students, then taking their questions.

The U.Va. visit is one of several Duncan will make this month to press for bright candidates to enter teaching. He’ll host a virtual town meeting with teachers from around the nation on Oct. 20, then deliver a major address on teacher preparation two days later in New York City.
