FREETOWN, Sierra Leone -- Police say more than 200 people remain missing in Sierra Leone a day after a boat capsized, killing at least eight.

Police official Ibrahim Samura says most of the passengers onboard were schoolchildren returning from holidays in the West African nation.

At least 221 people remain missing and 39 passengers have been rescued so far. Samura says some of the passengers also were traveling with young children.

The boat was traveling from the village of Shenge to Tombo, near Freetown, when the accident occurred yesterday.
