UR’s London has ties to BC football

-- The Boston College football-coaching situation bears watching if you follow the University of Richmond's program.

Spiders' coach Mike London was BC's defensive line coach from 1997 to 2000 under Tom O'Brien. Though London, 48, has been a head coach for only one season, his UR team won the Football Championship Subdivision title. London could not be reached for comment yesterday. Richmond Athletic Director Jim Miller said there would be no comment coming from the school regarding personnel matters.

BC yesterday terminated the employment of coach Jeff Jagodzinski, and the school announced that its search would include internal and external candidates. Defensive coordinator Frank Spaziani and offensive line coach Jack Bicknell Jr. are reportedly the internal candidates.

London, a UR graduate, also was an assistant at William and Mary, Richmond, Virginia and for the Houston Texans.
