Virginia Derby favorite Nicanor has been scratched from tomorrow's race. The fan favorite is the brother of famed Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro.

Nicanor trainer Michael Matz said that the horse injured his left hind leg during training. The severity of the injury has not yet been determined and no recovery plan has been created yet.

The scratch makes Battle of Hastings, a British entry, the new favorite for the race, which runs tomorrow at 5:59 p.m. For a complete race preview, see tomorrow's Richmond Times-Dispatch.
