No. 6 Panthers survive Rebels 34-28
Three fourth-quarter touchdowns from Douglas Freeman weren't enough to overtake visiting Hermitage, which held on to claim a 34-28 Colonial District shootout last night.
Brendan Rogers returned an interception 34 yards to start the scoring for Hermitage (5-0, 6-2) and help send the Panthers into the intermission with a 25-7 lead.
Quarterback Michael Johnson was 11 of 18 for 179 yards, and Stephen Reynolds kicked three field goals.
Douglas Freeman (2-3, 5-3) had a big game from QB Sam Jacobson, who passed for 315 yards and three TDs and added a 1-yard rushing TD. Monty Smalley pulled in 12 passes for 202 yards, scoring in the fourth quarter on catches covering 14 and 85 yards.
The Panthers' win sets up a key district showdown at No. 2 Deep Run on Friday.

Antone Exum was 8 of 11 for 111 yards and rushed for 88 yards on six carries as second-ranked Deep Run (5-0, 8-0) hammered Colonial District rival Mills Godwin.
Exum had two punt returns for 94 yards, one of which was a touchdown, ran for two and threw for another.
The Wildcats held the Eagles (2-3, 3-5) to 52 yards and rolled up nine sacks. Patrick Gallagher had 10 tackles, two sacks and a fumble recovery, and Jake Snyder had four sacks.

DINWIDDIE -- Adam Morgan threw three touchdown passes, and Terron Adams scored on a 91-yard kickoff return to lead No. 5 Dinwiddie over Prince George in the Central District.
Morgan was 16 for 22 for 261 yards with one interception, and he connected with Adams on an 80-yard pass for a TD. Mark Be bille (nine carries, 86 yards) scored on runs of 1 and 4 yards for the Generals (5-0, 7-1).
Jerrell White made six catches for 64 yards and scored on an 8-yard pass from Morgan.
Richie Williams led Dinwiddie's defense with 10 tackles. Cory Marshall had eight tackles and a sack, and Bryan Belangia made two sacks.
Prince George QB Cody Engle was 10 of 19 for 200 yards with one TD and one interception. Lawrence Taylor had 24 carries for 91 yards, and Tyler Johnson made five catches for 120 yards and scored for the Royals (2-3, 3-5).

Josh Wells passed for 181 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Hanover unleashed a balanced rushing attack to thrash Atlee.
Wells delivered touchdown strikes of 15 and 25 yards in the fourth period after Hanover's ground game had built a comfortable lead. Kenny Fryman scored on a 40-yard run in the first period, and Deane Cheatham added a 1-yard burst.
The Hawks (2-2 Capital District, 5-3) amassed 326 yards of offense despite a formidable performance by linebacker Josh Doggett, who had 22 solo tackles, eight assists, three pass deflections and a sack for Atlee (0-4, 1-7).

POWHATAN -- A sterling performance by freshman tailback Landen Bradley carried 10th-ranked Powhatan to a Southside District victory over Park View (2-2 Southside District, 3-6) on a night when starting quarterback Shawn Minor missed the second half with an injury.
Bradley rushed 29 times for 251 yards and three touchdowns. Two of his scores, 9and 83-yarders, came during a 21-point fourth period that blew the game open.
The Indians (4-0, 7-1) held Park View (2-3, 3-6) to 145 yards. Linebacker John Morris led the way for the Powhatan with nine tackles, including two for loss.

Josh Allen scored the first touchdown for the Crimson Wave (1-3, 4-4), and the second came on a 13-yard pass to Octavius Whitaker from Eric MacGruder.

Otey's 39-yard scoring strike to Ricky Rogers put the Warriors ahead to stay in the second period. Short scoring runs by Otey (5 yards) and Daquan Martin (8) inflated the winners' lead to 20-6 in the third period.
Henrico (2-3, 3-5) held Armstrong to 160 yards and minus 24 net rushing yards. Matt Price was involved in two sacks for 21 yards in losses. Victor Ripley was involved in two sacks for 32 yards in losses.

Tyler Henderson threw for one touchdown and rushed for two in Manchester's Dominion District victory over James River.
Henderson, who completed 11 of 21 passes for 125 yards, threw two interceptions. He rushed 13 times for 115 yards.
The Lancers' quarterback received ample support from running back Brandon Chiles (24 carries, 162 yards, TD) as Manchester rolled up 370 yards on the ground.
Brandon Merriman and Jonathan Durrett contributed 12 tackles each. The Lancers (4-2, 6-2) held the Rapids (2-4, 2-6) to 61 yards on the ground.

Later in the quarter, Jamar Brown scampered in on a 1-yard run, giving Roanoke its only score.
