Christine Abbott

School: Midlothian
Year: Freshman
The skinny: Stepped right into the No.1 spot for the Trojans and didn't lose (15-0) to a Dominion District foe in singles this year. Her only losses in the region were to Emily Hahn and Yasmin Fotovat. She was the district tournament singles winner and player of the year and advanced to the region semifinals.

Anjelica Esteves

School: Cosby

The skinny: One of three freshmen on the first team, Esteves and Abbott are looking at three more years of challenging each other for supremacy in the Dominion District. Esteves was the district runner-up in singles and teamed with Erin Hickey to win the district doubles title. She reached the region semifinals in singles. Her sister, Nathalia, was an All-Metro pick from Clover Hill in 2007.

Yasmin Fotovat

School: Atlee

Fotovat was the Capital District player of the year and the Central Region runner-up. Her only singles losses (18-2) came in the region final to Emily Hahn and state semifinals to eventual champion Faby Chaillo. She and doubles partner Shao Ching Tu (a repeat All-Metro pick) were region runners-up and advanced to the state quarterfinals.

Emily Hahn

School: Douglas Freeman
Year: Freshman
The skinny: From the start of the season, Hahn was the player to beat in the Colonial District and Central Region. She won the district and region singles titles, was the player of the year at both levels and didn't lose a singles match until the state semifinals (in three sets). She and partner Elena Rusu (a three-time All-Metro selection) won the region doubles title and became the first Freeman doubles team to win the state title since 1982.
What you didn't know: "I'm really scared of rats/rodents."

Nicole Parker

School: Mills Godwin

The skinny: The Eagles' No.1 player is a repeat All-Metro pick. She has moved up in position on the team ladder each of her three seasons and contributed to a 10th consecutive Central Region team championship and third consecutive Group AAA team title. Mary Taylor Tepper

Year: Senior
The skinny: Tepper is one of four private school players on the All-Metro team, but the only one who plays in the spring against the public schools.
