Jim Zorn this morning received the backing of a team executive who said the embattled head coach has the support of the front office.

Jim Zorn will remain the Washington Redskins coach “for the rest of this season and hopefully into the future,“ a team executive said on a radio talk show this morning.

Vinny Cerrato, the vice president of football operations, made his comments on ESPN 980’s Inside the Red Zone, the Washington Post is reporting on its Web site.

“The team is tight, the relationships are tight, and we’re just trying to prepare to win a game Monday Night and excite the fans and get the fans back excited about this football team,“ the Post quoted Cerrato as saying. “We just want to beat the Philadelphia Eagles Monday night.

Zorn’s future had been cast in further doubt after the Redskins’ loss to previously winless Kansas City when the team tapped Sherman Lewis, a consultant and former longtime assistant coach, to call offensive plays instead of Zorn. Zorn said the move wasn’t forced on him and that he backed whatever was needed to help the team win.

Cerrato, who has also come under fire this season, defended the operations of the team and said that owner Dan Snyder has confidence in the organization.

“And there’s a lot of media people like you and everybody else out there that says Dan Snyder needs to come out and talk, Dan needs to say this, do that. Dan has never spoken to the media during the season for over a decade now. And Dan’s thing is, he feels that during the season, the stage belongs to the head of football operations, the coaching staff, the players. That’s why he doesn’t talk, all right?“ the Post quoted Cerrato as saying.

I have to agree with “Glen Allen Coach” - Dan Snyder is a businessman. Once his investment starts loosing money, he will hopefully do what any smart businessman would do - sell the team. This can only be achieved by the fans - stop attending games and buying merchandise. It might be difficult, but it’s for the good of the team.

What needs to happen is a protest against Snyder and Cerrato at Redskins park. That’ll get some attention. Snyder continues to not listen to any fans.

It is TIME to change the way the Skins are managed.  If you truly want the Skins to turn things around VOTE with your feet.  Walk away and don’t go back to a game until Synder sells the team.  Don’t attend games.  With 80,000 emtpty seats the Skins won’t be the cash cow for Synder they are now.  If you keep going to the games you are helping to ensure Synder will be there.  No coach or GM can turn this around. Only new management.

I can’t wait to watch the Deadskins get worked by Philly on MNF. Then listen to all the deadskin fans whine and cry. I love Dan Snyder. He’s brilliant!

“we’re just trying to prepare to win a game Monday Night and excite the fans and get the fans back excited about this football team”

Wanna know how to do that, Vinny?  Keep your mouth shut, pack your bags, and get out!!

Then have your puppetmaster Danny sell the team.  That’s how you’ll get this 35-year Redskins’ fan excited about the team again.

what they said “Jim Zorn will remain the Washington Redskins coach the rest of the season”

What I heard…“we are content to lose the remaining games on our schedule and are we are already looking forward to next year “

‘drip, drip, drip’ The Redskins’ version of Chinese water torture. They have stripped Zorn of duties and now they are going to let him twist in the wind. It’s unfair to him, the coaching staff, the team and fans.
