Four more deaths in Virginia related to swine flu

Flu-like illness in the state declined last week, suggesting H1N1 swine flu activity may be slowing.

But four more people across Virginia have died from swine flu -- with the number of deaths now up to 21, said Dr. Karen Remley, state health commissioner.

Flu-like illness accounted for 11 percent of all visits last week to emergency rooms and urgent care centers, compared to about 14 percent the previous two weeks.

"One data point does not make a trend," Remley said.

Also, as of yesterday, more than 870,000 doses of vaccine have been ordered for Virginia, with more than half of that going to private providers.
