Jill Coleman

New position: vice president for programs, The Cameron Foundation

Previous position: special assistant to the vice president, global program group, Christian Children's Fund

Birthplace: Henrico County

Education: bachelor's degree, American University; master's degree, Averett University

Career: "Right out of college, began as a summer employee with the city of Richmond's Job Training Program, then known as JTAP. Continued with the city in varying capacities before joining the Petersburg Housing Authority. In 1989, joined the Minority Health Consortium as its first salaried executive director."

Best career move: "When I joined the Minority Health Consortium in 1989, the organization had not received its 501(c)(3) designation and only had funding for three months. Through board and fund development, the organization survived and is still in existence. I took a chance, and the challenges made me better."

Pastimes: "I'm a walker. . . . I also take piano classes, read, cook, travel and spend . . . time with my family and friends."

Ideal vacation: "Camping at Breezy Point with everybody's kids and friends. Berlin with my brother and my Euro buddies. Runaway Bay, Jamaica, with girlfriends. Anywhere in the world with my husband."
