VDOT awards seven contracts

The Virginia Department of Transportation has awarded seven highway contracts, worth about $5.5 million, for construction and maintenance projects in central and Southside Virginia.

  • Lee Hy Paving Corp. of Glen Allen received two contracts totaling about $2 million for paving work in Charles City, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico and New Kent counties.

  • Howard Brothers Contractor Inc. of Providence Forge got a $156,000 contract for improvements to the intersection of Staples Mill Road and Parham Road in Henrico.

  • Branscome Inc. of Williamsburg was awarded a $578,000 contract to build left-turn lanes along Cold Harbor Road east at the Walnut Grove Drive intersection and the Cold Cove Road intersection in Hanover.

  • Remac Inc. of Gasburg won a $226,000 contract to seal pavement cracks, which extends pavement life, on Broad Street in Henrico, U.S. 1 and state Route 10 in Chesterfield County, U.S. 301 in Prince George County, U.S. 460 in Dinwiddie County, U.S. 1 in Mecklenburg County and U.S. 1 in Brunswick County.

  • Colony Construction Inc. of Powhatan County was awarded a $836,000 contract for paving in Amelia, Nottoway and Lunenburg counties.

  • Adams Construction Co. of Roanoke received a $1.7 million contract for paving in Brunswick and Mecklenburg.

These contracts are so small they would not even get mentioned during a normal construction season. Crack filling?
