Photo booths give parties a creative twist.

When Mike and Kathy Massino got married last year, they hired a photographer to record the happy occasion.

“The photographer did a wonderful job,” Massino said.  “But only about 10 percent of the people at the wedding ended up in our photo album.”

In April, Massino started a company that can do 90 percent better than that.

Virginia Photo Booths and More LLC provides photo booths and a flip book studio to parties looking for a creative twist.

“We encourage wedding guests to put photo-booth photos in the scrapbook, and we give it to the couple at the end of the evening,” Massino said. “So if everybody participates, you’ll have memories of all who attended the wedding or the event.”

Massino also provides a photo CD to the newlyweds, as well as uploading the photos to a password-protected Web site, which wedding guests can access.

Think that takes too long? Massino’s company can generate a 60-page flip book for party guests in 90 seconds.  And he can make 40 flip books in an hour.

“I’m the only one licensed to use this software in Virginia,” Massino said.

The performances people record for the flip books range from miming and dancing to telling a story with the placards that Massino brings to parties.  Among the placard options:  “Just married!” and “Just here for the party.”

“The flip books draw such a crowd that they create a mini-party in themselves,” Massino said.

Business is booming. In addition to weddings and receptions, Massino’s company has enlivened celebrations at bar / bat mitzvahs, proms, reunions, birthday parties and corporate parties around Virginia.

“Demand has been so great, I’ll expand the company soon,” Massino said, as he loads the trailer for another party.  “Everybody loves to have fun.”
