RICHMOND, Va.—As construction continues on the new McGlothlin Wing, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is reinstalling galleries and bringing artworks out of storage. This weekend, the museum is inviting its members in for a sneak peek of what’s in store when the expansion opens May 1.
From 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20 and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, members can stroll through the Sydney and Frances Lewis Galleries, housing the art nouveau, art deco and mid- to late-20th-century collections. Also recently renovated and reinstalled are the Tapestry Hall and European galleries. Memberships starting at $40 for individuals and $60 for families (with discounts for students and teachers) will be sold at the door. Visit www.vmfa.museum for details of the weekend events.
