La Siesta Mexican Restaurant, a Richmond institution for 35 years, is serving its last meal Saturday.

La Siesta has been run by the Zajur family. George Zajur plans to maintain the Web site, lasiestarestaurant.com, and continue to market the restaurant's salsas in Ukrop's stores.

Nita Jones, a former Times-Dispatch restaurant reviewer, visited La Siesta when it was located in a diner car on Jefferson Davis Highway. "My family has been faithful followers ever since," she wrote in an e-mail.

La Siesta moved to larger accommodations on Patterson Avenue and then to its current location, 9900 Midlothian Turnpike.
