Table Talk: New Italian and steak coming to West End
Published: November 5, 2009
Fans of Frank's Ristorante in the Stony Point Shopping Center and the late Brother's Pizza in western Henrico County will soon have a new addition to the family.
Bocca Toscana is slated to open next month in The Village Shopping Center (7021 Three Chopt Road).
The casual Italian restaurant is owned by Elizabeth Carollo and her son, Giuseppe -- the forces behind Brother's and Frank's, along with Elizabeth's husband, Frank -- and will focus on New York-style pizza, subs, pasta and other traditional Italian dishes.
Bocca Toscana already has a Facebook page.

Also opening next month: Shula's Steak House is coming to the new Hilton (191 Towne Center West Blvd. in Short Pump) on Dec. 1.
The restaurant differs from its sister property Shula's 2, also in western Henrico -- by offering a fine-dining atmosphere that incorporates a sports theme (Shula's 2 is a casual-dining upscale sports bar).
The steakhouse, owned by Miami Dolphins coaching legend Don Shula, will include several private dining rooms as well as a lounge area that fits about 45 people.

Goodbye, Easy Street, hello F.W. Sullivan's Fan Bar & Grille.
The longtime Fan eatery at 2401 W. Main St. reopens today with a twist: a mascot of sorts who will help dictate the menu.
F.W. "Sully" Sullivan IV, whom co-owner and general manager Jake Crocker didn't want to disclose as a real or fictional character, is a world-traveler. As he experiences different parts of the country each week, a special entrée, dessert, beer and wine will be part of the menu to reflect Sullivan's travels.
Patrons also can follow Sullivan's routes with an interactive map in the restaurant and through Facebook and Twitter.
Steering the menu which has been described as "a gourmet twist on traditional pub fare" using local meat, produce and dairy is executive chef Sean Murphy, formerly of Metro Grill.

For $32.95 per person ($16 for children), the restaurant will provide a four-course family-style meal, including traditional turkey and ham, along with pastas, sides and dessert.
Maggiano's also is serving two new cocktails: a S'mores Martini (SKYY vodka, Bailey's Irish cream, chocolate sauce and toasted marshmallow syrup, served with a marshmallow and graham-cracker rim) and a Spiced Apple Prosecco (chilled Maschio Prosecco brut with a touch of apple and cinnamon).
For details, call (804) 253-0900 or visit http://www.maggianos.com.
Manakin Grill (12912 Plaza Drive) also is offering a Thanksgiving buffet for $24.99 (adults) and $12.99 (children). The spread will include roasted and smoked turkey, carved top round beef, stuffing and sweets.

For those of you who didn’t already know, there is a Frank’s family restaurant already in Western Henrico, Frank’s West, in the shopping center at the intersection of Patterson and Lauderdale.
Amazing pizza, one of the best cheesesteaks around, and (as far as I’m concerned) the best penne amatriciana.
