It's a good week to welcome some newcomers to the restaurant landscape. Now serving are:

  • Bouchon, at 1209 E. Cary St. in Shockoe Slip. The French bistro takes over Pomegranate's old spot and offers a menu heavy on Provencal-inspired seafood. The Web site, http://www.bistrobouchon.com, is under construction. For details, call (804) 225-9116.

  • Coming Tuesday is a new location for Einstein Bros. Bagels in Westbury Shopping Center. The store will open at 5 a.m. and reward the first 100 customers with one free breakfast a week for a year. For details, call (804) 288-5212.

    A second-area Ledo's Pizza is opening soon in Willow Lawn. The Maryland-based chain arrived in the Richmond area this year in Short Pump's West Broad Village.

    The Halligan Bar and Grill (3 N. 17th St.) is spearheading a Firefighter Festival in the 17th Street Farmers' Market on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

    Along with the firefighter-themed restaurant, neighboring eateries LuLu's, Havana 59, Rosie Connelly's and Bistro 104 will also serve food in the market.

    All proceeds will benefit Stop Child Abuse Now, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Old Dominion Professional Firefighters Burn Foundation and the Fallen Firefighters Memorial

    India K' Raja (9051 W. Broad St.) is offering an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet for $7 (Monday-Friday) and $9 (Saturday-Sunday). On Monday night, the dinner buffet is $12.

    To celebrate the chain's 40th anniversary, Wendy's locations will sell four signature items -- oven-baked potato, Frosty, chili and a Double Stack burger -- for 99 cents each.

    Also on the anniversary list is Chez Foushee (203 N. Foushee St.), which rings in 20 years next month.

    The monthlong commemoration will include door prizes and special promotions and past menu items updated for 2009. The restaurant will also spiff up its interior design and make some dining room layout changes to provide a "more brasserie feel."

    For those who like to plan early, on Oct. 17, Chez Foushee will hold a reservation-only dinner for $20 that will highlight some of its classic dishes.

    From the Words Fail Department: Bar Louie Tavern & Grill (11788 W. Broad St.) has introduced the world's first cocktail chocolate, the Cholive, in its newest martini, The Caffeinator.

    The drink consists of Van Gogh Double Espresso Vodka, butterscotch liqueur, cream and a Cholive, a dark chocolate truffle made with 55 percent dark chocolate and filled with Vermont whole-cream ganache.
