Buju Banton show moved to Hat Factory

Controversial reggae singer Buju Banton's performance at The National has been moved to The Hat Factory.

Local promoter King Walker of Lionheart Productions will stage the show at the newly opened venue -- formerly Toad's Place -- on the Canal Walk.

The concert will still take place Sept. 26. Previously purchased tickets will be honored.

Banton has raised the ire of local and national gay-rights groups because of the violent anti-gay lyrics contained in his song "Boom Bye Bye."

Though the song was released in 1992, the singer has performed it as recently as 2006.
