-- The Cab and local band Duchess of York will perform for Virginia Commonwealth University's homecoming kickoff this month.

The Las Vegas-based Cab is one of Pete Wentz's finds signed to his Decaydence Records. It has gained national attention the past year with its debut album, "Whisper War."

The bands will play the Landmark Theater on Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 and go on sale Monday at 10 a.m.

The Grateful Dead returns to the road this spring for a monthlong tour that comes to John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville.

Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart, Jeff Chimenti and Warren Haynes will hit the venue April 15. Tickets will go on sale Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. -- Melissa Ruggieri
