Poll: 64 percent say too much Jackson coverage

LOS ANGELES -- Nearly two in three Americans say news organizations have given too much coverage to the death of Michael Jackson, but half say the media have struck the right balance between covering the pop star's personal life and musical career.

In a Pew Research Center poll published yesterday, 64 percent of those surveyed said Jackson's death last week in Los Angeles has received too much coverage, 29 percent said the story received the right amount and 3 percent said the story got too little attention.

Thirty percent said they followed the story very closely, though that number jumped to 80 percent among blacks, according to the independent public opinion research group.

Pew interviewed about 1,000 adults for the poll, which has a margin of error of plus-or-minus 3.5 percentage points.

never mind the documented pay outs to keep the families of little kids quiet. While we do not know the reasons for these payouts, one can only wonder.  Never mind his love to “sleep” with children in his bed.  Never mind that he loved the USA so much that he spent the last 7 years living in the middle east.  Never mind all of those kids that have been scarred and intimidated not to speak out.  Never mind that he was found innocent, but if you actually followed the trail…he did provide alcohol to minors.  It was a jury of “MJ fanboys” that let him off.

He is a non issue.  In fact he is a freak show and that is the only reason the media can not stop reporting about him.  The media loves a train wreck…and he is still providing one after his death.  Drugs, drugs and more drugs…all his personal choice.

Does anybody know how the Iranian election-thing turned out.  That certainly fell completely off the radar.  It’s not whether the media covered Jackson or O.J. too much, it’s how many important stories are being ignored.

Michael Jackson was a musical genius whose legacy will endure. His music, videos, and incredible dance moves, are the focus of the media. He was also a loving son, brother, and father. I don’think there will ever be another “King”-there was Martin Luther, Elvis, and Michael. The world has lost a great man; may God bless Michael, his family, and fans. We will miss him terribly.
