Animation pioneer and "Toy Story" creator John Lasseter is getting a career honor from the Producers Guild of America.
Lasseter is receiving the David O. Selznick Achievement Award at the guild's awards show Jan. 24. He is the first producer of animated films to receive the award. Past recipients include Clint Eastwood, Jerry Bruckheimer, Stanley Kramer and Billy Wilder.
Lasseter directed 1995's "Toy Story," the first feature-length computer-animated film, and "Toy Story 2," along with "A Bug's Life" and "Cars." He runs animation at Pixar and Disney.

- Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Colin Egglesfield are moving out of "Melrose Place," the CW drama, in January. Heather Locklear, who starred in the 1990s "Melrose Place," is joining the new edition starting Nov. 17.
- On Dec. 2, Paul McCartney will return to Hamburg, Germany, where The Beatles honed their craft, to launch his first European tour in five years.
"Shrek the Musical" will play its final Broadway performance Jan. 3 after only a one-year run. A national tour is still set to begin in June in Chicago. -- From Wire Reports
