Matt Lively paintings on exhibit at Red Door Gallery

Paintings by Richmond artist Matt Lively make up "Home," an exhibition recently mounted at the Red Door Gallery.

Lively created most of the works in connection with "The Wind Chill Factory" film project. He created the concept for the movie, which is being filmed in Richmond and will premiere in November in Raleigh, N.C.

While the premise of the film -- a factory that generates cold air to lower the global temperature -- is far-fetched, Lively said, similar ideas exist in the scientific community, including plans to reflect sunlight back into space to reduce temperature.

"Any of these ideas would be incredibly ambitious public art projects," he said. "Beautiful and controversial."

The exhibit will run through May 30 at Red Door Gallery, 1607 W. Main St. in the Uptown District near Virginia Commonwealth University. Hours are 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 1 to 9 p.m. Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday.
