-- Winter promises to heat up Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Landmark Theater with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra's third pops concert of the season, "Sinfonia del Fuego."

The symphony's fourth music-director-search candidate, Marc Taddei, will lead the orchestra and several guest performers through a concert fusing jazz, classical and Argentine influences.

Among the guest artists will be Raul Jaurena, a master of the tango and one of the world's top bandoneon players (a bandoneon is a square, button-operated accordion invented in the 1840s that is primarily associated with the roots of the tango). Also, concertmaster Karen Johnson will be featured as a soloist.

Joining the orchestra and Jaurena will be a group of dancers from the Latin Ballet of Virginia, led by artistic director Ana Ines King, who promise to bring the tangos to life.

Tickets are $35 to $60 and can be obtained through Ticketmaster at (804) 262-8003 or online at www.ticketmaster.com. -- Walt Amacker
