Eat pancakes to raise funds for muscular dystrophy
For centuries, the English have 'flipped' for pancakes in celebration of Shrove Tuesday (Feb. 24), which heralds the beginning of fasting during Lent. Long ago, strict rules prohibited the eating of all dairy products during Lent so pancakes were made to use up the supply of eggs, milk, butter and other dairy products . . . hence the name Pancake Tuesday.
IHOP's National Pancake Day Celebration benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association.IHOP restaurants nationwide will offer guests a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes in an effort to raise awareness and funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association on National Pancake Day. With a goal to raise $1 million, funds will benefit local charities across the nation.
For every short stack of pancakes served on National Pancake Day, IHOP guests are invited to make a donation to the Muscular Dystrophy Association on Feb. 24 from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. at participating IHOP restaurants in the Richmond area.
