Composition: 100 percent Cabernet Franc
Description: Another example of the excellent Cabernet Francs being made in the state, this medium-bodied wine has berry and black pepper aromas followed by raspberry and cherry tastes and a velvety finish. 13.2 percent alcohol

Fast fact: Cabernet Franc is widely believed to be one of the parents of Cabernet Sauvignon (Sauvignon Blanc is the other). Cabernet Franc is the second most-harvested grape in Virginia, behind Chardonnay. Pollak Vineyards has been open less than two years but already has made a name for itself. Pollak wines that have been recognized at international competitions with silver medals are the 2006 Merlot, 2006 Meritage, 2007 Petit Verdot and 2008 Pinot Gris.
